Description
For the mandolinist interested in a little bit of a different sound to broaden their repertoire, an oval-hole instrument is often a great fit - and Bruce Weber's have few competitors, old or new. This gorgeous Beartooth from 2002 was, at the time of its construction, the top of Mr. Weber's production line among A-styles, and it provides a striking contrast to just about any other mandolin you might care to pick up, with a big, rounded sound full of lows and mids. That makes it very well suited for solo performances of traditional songs, as well as for classical and Celtic music, as this Beartooth has a unique sound profile that sets it apart from the pack. Cosmetics are consistent with the great work Bruce was doing in the early 2000s, with a beautiful tobacco-burst finish, a wood armrest and pickguard, mother-of-pearl inlays and of course, some beautiful maple on the back and sides. It even comes with a McIntyre Feather passive pickup pre-installed, allowing you to plug in and start gigging with it from day one.
This instrument is in great shape, with very little in the way of either cosmetic or functional wear. The set up is very good and is amenable to most playing styles, and the electronics work without issue. We consider this mandolin to be in excellent condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
