It's incredible that Pava Knezevic already has the reputation that she does given that her mandolins still number under a thousand. In just 20 years of building - and even less time building under her own name, rather than for Collings - her name has become synonymous with an impeccable standard of quality, elegant craftsmanship and visual design, and a full-bodied sound. In particular, she's become known for her oval-hole mandolins, which tend to feature a lush old world sound with modern, new world design sensibilities and set up. This lovely A4 Player Oval is an excellent example of everything Pava does well, with a visual beauty matched pound-for-pound with the mandolin's detailed and complex tonal character. A simple shellac finish and single-layer binding keeps the instrument tasteful and allows the natural flaming in the red maple on the back and sides do the talking. It's one of her best, and surely won't be in our shop for too long. Included in the price is a Superior plexiglass hardshell case.
