Description

We had great expectations when we heard Taylor were in the process of redesigning the 500 Series - and the new 514ce has gone above and beyond those expectations. Taking an original approach to one of their most popular guitars, the new 514ce proves that quality and sustainability aren't mutually exclusive when you're willing to think outside the box. The 514ce now features a torrefied Sitka spruce top with urban ironbark on the back and sides, one of the hardest woods Taylor have ever used on a guitar. It's got a bright, lively, and powerful sound that sits somewhere between mahogany and maple, and is harvested from within the San Diego metro area, proving that we have A-grade tonewoods growing right in our backyard. Visually, Taylor apply a light sunburst to the top, complimenting the darker look of the torrefied spruce, and add ivoroid inlays and an abalone rosette. The 514ce also comes with the company's patented Expression II pickup system pre-installed, allowing you to plug it in the moment you get it home. Included in the price is a hard-shell case, for the protection that a great instrument like this requires.
