Description

Every instrument we see from Lewiston, Maine's Bourgeois Guitars is a unique, beautiful instrument that displays the expert hand and careful craftsmanship of head luthier Dana Bourgeois from headstock to endpin. The manner in which they're carefully hand-built means they trickle into our store at a fairly slow pace, so we could hardly contain our excitement when we heard this gorgeous OMS Country Boy from Bourgeois' Heirloom Series was on its way to us. Despite featuring a full 25.5" scale length and an OM body shape, the OMS is a 12-fret guitar with a slotted headstock, meaning it looks a little smaller than it actually plays. The sound, however, is anything but small, with torrefied Adirondack spruce on the top and torrefied maple on the back and sides giving the guitar one of the most open, bright, and loud sounds you'll ever hear out of an OM-sized guitar. Torrefaction brings out the best in the cuts of wood, giving the guitar a vintage, played-in sound from day one, minus the wear and tear.

As part of Bourgeois' Heirloom series, this guitar also features a couple upgrades that separate it from the rest of Bourgeois' guitars. The bracing on the inside, which is also torrefied, has been scalloped for ideal volume, sustain, and a surprising bass response, and the tongue brace has also been removed to allow the top to vibrate as freely as possible. The guitar is also constructed with animal protein glue, which dries harder than synthetic glue and gives the guitar a bit of a bigger and better sound. Included in the price is a Bourgeois hard-shell case.
