Description
The 800 series begins to approach the pinnacle of Taylor's production instruments, just shy of the immaculate craftsmanship on display in the 900 series and the Presentation series. If you're already familiar with Taylor Guitars, the 814ce represents everything you already know and love about the builder, but pushed to its apex - the excellent playability, unbelievably balanced sound, visual beauty, and the spectacular treble response will all be familiar territory. If you haven't gotten the chance to play a Taylor before, it would be hard to have a better introduction than the 814ce, as it typifies everything that makes the company special and has won them millions of fans worldwide.
The top is high-grade Sitka spruce, and the back and sides are constructed from beautiful East Indian rosewood. Consistent with the 800 series, the fingerboard and headstock sport Taylor's Element motif, and both those inlays as well as the rosette are striking mother-of-pearl. Other visual appointments include maple binding both at the neck as well as around the body, and a rosewood pickguard. This guitar features Taylor's proprietary Expression II pickup system, designed expressly for the purpose of making your Taylor sound its best when plugged in, and Taylor's in-house designed V-class bracing, which improves the sustain and playability as one ascends the neck. Finally, this instrument comes with a hard shell case included in the price, for the protection that a work of art like this requires.
