How cool is this? Pisgah Banjo Company pride themselves on building instruments that find a great balance between quality and price, and this Rambler Dobson with a spunover steel rim falls right in line with that approach to building fine acoustic instruments. Spunover rims can be prohibitively expensive for the intermediate banjo player, especially if they're made in the United States, but this one prices reasonably for the player who loves that big, metallic sound but doesn't want to break the bank. A Dobson style brass tone ring adds even more volume, punch, and sustain to an already highly present open-back. Pisgah don't skimp on the woods, either, with a nice cherry neck giving the Rambler back some warmth that might not be available if this were a maple instrument with a steel rim. Included in the price is a Pisgah gig bag for some protection without the heft of a hard-shell case.
