Description

The Denver Folklore Center was the first store to ever stock Ome banjos, and we still love them to this day. We're lucky to have them right up the road from us, so used ones float into our store every now and then, like this 12" Tupelo from 2017. It boasts all of the classic Ome sound, included excellent bass response and a thumping, lively midrange that's sure to delight any clawhammer player who sits down with it. A mahogany neck with a large frailing scoop terminates in a maple pot, for the ideal mix of percussive snap as well as mahogany's warmth, making the instrument very well suited to old time music and solo melodic clawhammer playing. This banjo is currently strung with nylon strings, but the set-up is great and it could be restrung with standard nickel strings at a moment's notice. Appointments are modest, with a matte finish on the pot, tortoise shell-colored binding, a mahogany armrest, and a classy rosewood peghead overlay. Rather, the magic is in this banjo's sound, as its buttery tone is sure to please even the most discerning clawhammer player.

This instrument shows almost no signs of playwear and has never required any major repairs. We consider it to be in excellent condition. Included in the price is a Superior hard-shell case, which was included with the instrument at the time of its original purchase.
