Description

Another wonderful instrument from Boulder's Ome Banjo Company, this jaw-dropping custom shop Omega from 2012 has been a delight to have in our store. This instrument represents the pinnacle of the already renowned open-back banjos that Ome are known for in both looks as well as sound. In all respects, the Omega is a titan, with mellow, all-walnut construction and a Tubaphone-style tone ring that give it a soft, mellow, sound with a lot of bass and midrange, especially for a banjo with an 11-inch pot. That warm, Appalachian-inspired sound will already be very familiar to players familiar with Omes, but the Omega takes it one step further and the capable player will hear incredible nuance and richness in the tone not available in a lesser banjo. But it's the visual ornaments that really put this particular Omega in a different class. Like all other Omegas, it features some very beautiful abalone inlay work on the headstock and fretboard, as well as ivoroid binding around the pot and headstock. The aged brass hardware and heel have also both been intricately engraved lending the banjo a truly exceptional beauty.

Best of all, this instrument is in excellent condition with very mild playwear from the owner. The set-up is perfect for clawhammer playing with a very sweet tone over the frailing scoop, and there is next to no fretwear or any visual defects, let alone anything that would impact the playability, durability, or sound of the instrument. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
