Description

The old-time banjo player would be hard-pressed to find a better instrument than this Ome Flora, a splendid, short-scale open-back designed specifically for clawhammer play. With a cherry pot and mahogany neck, the Flora has a very rich midrange, but retains the thumpy, rounded tone that Ome have become known for over the last 60 years. Appointments are relatively simple, although the headstock features an ornate flourish in abalone, and a six point star over the frailing scoop adds another distinctive visual touch. But the attention to detail and near-perfect tone is what truly sets the Flora apart from the pack, making it an ideal instrument for playing fiddle tunes in a stringband, or for solo melodic clawhammer playing. A rolled brass tone ring under the rim adds extra richness and sustain to the natural sound of the wood. Included in the price is a hard-shell case manufactured by Superior, to keep this wonderful instrument properly protected.
