Description

Ome Banjo Company have built up quite a reputation over the years; not just in Colorado, but worldwide. This Ode six-string banjo is a first for us from them in two respects - our first Ome six-string, as well as our first instrument from their Ode line, a banjo aimed at the intermediate player, pricing in between their excellent Ute banjos and the standard Ome open-backs that have made Chuck Ogsbury famous. This six-string banjo is certainly one for the niche player, but built with all the care and attention that one's come to expect from our friends up in Boulder. Like all six-strings, (usually referred to as either "banjitars" or "banjars"), this Ode is set up to play in standard guitar tuning, suiting it uniquely well for guitarists who want the trademark sound of a banjo without committing to learning a new instrument. But what separates this instrument from an entry level banjitar are the grade of materials and cosmetic appointments.

The curly maple pot both looks and sounds great and sizes at a large 13", adding a mellowness to the sound not present on most banjos, even those than come to us from Ome, but the maple neck ensure the banjo has all the twang you could want. It also features a Renaissance head for some of the roundness that we usually associate with Ome banjos, and the aged brass hardware is beautiful as well as sturdy. Finally, the Stratocaster-style headstock both references the old-time wedge style headstock one might find on a high-end open-back, as well as the banjitar's shared lineage with the guitar. This banjitar comes with a Superior gig bag for protection as you carry it with you from stage to studio.
