Little Bird Fretted Tackhead 12"
Description
Those interested in old-timey, period-correct tone but who aren't quite ready to take the plunge into the world of the fretless banjo will be thrilled to find that Colorado's very own Little Bird Banjos has an answer in this no-frills, 12" tackhead five-string. Luthier Ken Ptaszek put this one together with a maple pot and a padauk neck for an ultra-authentic sound straight out of the American backwoods of yesteryear. No metal components aside from the frets and the tacks used to hold the dyed calfskin head on mean that this banjo's one of the lightest you'll ever have the pleasure of strumming, too. Ken's added a few splashes of acrylic paint here and there to amplify the Little Bird's rustic appeal, but beyond a few down-home highlights, this Little Bird is all pure mountain magic.
