Little Bird Fretless Tackhead 12"

Description

This too-cool-for-school fretless tackhead from Colorado builder Ken Ptaszek's Little Bird Banjos is the newest curiosity to make its way into our store, and will make a perfect rustic mountain banjo for clawhammer players who want a no-frills open-back with a tone that's true to the five-string's early history. Ken built this one with a maple pot and a thick, reclaimed oak neck for a striking and authentically Appalachian sound. With no metal components other than the tacks used to attach the dyed calfskin head, the Little Bird Fretless is light as a feather and about as durable as a banjo can be. Ken applied a few fun highlights with acrylic paint here and there to add to its old-school mountain charm, but other than those minor splashes of color, this thing is au natural. Case options are available upon request.
