Hatfield Buck Creek (2017)
Description
Our bluegrass cred practically tripled when this 2017 Hatfield Buck Creek walked into our store, and as we're not Hatfield dealers, we felt we couldn't pass up on adding it to our resonator selection. Arthur's banjos are renowned for their classic tone and phenomenal attention to detail, and all of us have been wowed by how this five string sings in all positions in the hands of both modern and traditional players. The Buck Creek features all-mahogany construction for a warm, woody sound filled with bite and midrange, and features a flathead tone ring and one-piece nickel-plated flange for some exceptional volume, sustain, and brightness. A full gloss finish complements the natural wood tone and the mother-of-pearl inlays for some vintage-inspired aesthetics, and the build quality and unremitting attention to detail cement Hatfield as one of the best builders in America. Come down to our store and have a field day with this great instrument!
This banjo does show some playing wear and was clearly a player's instrument rather than a collector's. Most notably, the previous owner chose to remove the gloss finish from the neck to make maneuvering up and down a little quicker. This does significantly change the look of the banjo, but since the alteration was made intentionally to improve playability rather than as a result of negligence or damage, we feel the instrument is still in very good condition. Some small marks and scuffs are visible on the back of the resonator as well as on the headstock, but nothing outside of normal playing wear. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
