Fare Thee Well Fretless Gourd Banjo
Description
Our pal Jason at Fare Thee Well banjos has pushed it up another notch with his latest gourd banjo, an all-killer-no-filler fretless five-string with a huge sound. A martin gourd combines with a sapele neck for a rich sound with clear highs and some phenomenal lows, especially when tuned all the way down to C standard or double F. In addition, Jason has added an innovative flared tone ring on the interior to give the instrument extra sustain, richness, and volume, unlike any other gourd banjo we've seen to date. As per usual, a goatskin head covers the top of the gourd, and nylon strings are held in place with ebony tension tuners. But cosmetic appointments also see big upgrades on the new FTW, with olive wood overlays and heel caps, hardwood purfling around the perimeter of the gourd, and a delicately carved neck joint. Included in the price is a Fare Thee Well tooled leather strap.
