Jason Cox's latest design takes everything we already loved about Fare Thee Well's fretless gourd banjos and re-infuses it with a bit of traditional Appalachian swagger via a figured cherry neck - while this still boasts the warm, easy drawl that we look for in every gourd that makes its way into our store, it's also got plenty of the clarity that's made cherry a popular alternative to maple in the old-time banjo world. Jason has fit this one with a high-quality calfskin head for an ultra-rich tone, and beautiful visual appointments like gold planetary tuners and an ebony tailpiece help ensure it looks the part just as much as it sounds the part. We're very lucky to have Fare Thee Well right in our backyard, and are looking forward to handing this instrument off to its first owner. Included in the price is a leather strap.
