Description

And just when you thought you'd seen everything! With some truly striking aesthetics and the idiosyncratic touches that can only be had in a hand-built instrument, this 2015 open-back from Doc's Banjos, nicknamed "Mia", is a standout in every sense. But Mia isn't just the most unique banjo in our store - she's also one of the best. The mellow, warm, and complex tone seems to come right out of another era, supplemented by the nylon strings that this instrument is currently set up for. The large neck and pot are both built with Oregon yew and black walnut, and give Mia a character and sound unlike any other, suited best for solo clawhammer play, or even two-finger or earlier styles. An ironwood tone ring and a skin head, dyed by Doc himself, add to the exquisitely old-timey tone of this one-of-a-kind instrument.

This banjo has seen very minimal playing wear and looks more or less new, with only the lightest wear on the head. There's no wear on the frets or scuffing on the neck, and the set up is still very good. We consider it to be in excellent condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
