Vega has been a well-regarded name in the world of open-back banjos for the better part of a century, and the good people at Deering Banjo Company seem determined to carry on that tradition since taking ownership of the Vega name. This 12" White Oak is no exception: it's one of the finest open-backs we carry by Deering, with a crisp, bright sound that will turn heads onstage or at a jam. As the name implies, both the neck and the pot are constructed with high-grade white oak, a very crisp tonewood reminiscent of maple in its treble response and clarity. Visually, the fretboard is likely the most striking feature - a cut of figured maple stained silver to match the white oak of the banjo. The headstock also features the distinctive Gryphon inlay, which has graced high-end open-back banjos for over 100 years. All in all, this is a fine instrument with a singular character especially well-suited for old-time musicians. Included in the price is a very protective Deering hard shell case.
