Big sound.
That's the thing that comes to most people's minds (& ears) when
they strum this classic Gibson. Sure, this baby's been played hard and
looks a little rough - but that's why it sounds so great! One very old

This Gibson is a real player, not so much a looker. It has had a neck set and a new bridge, so it plays great. Over the years it has had numerous cracks repaired in the top, but they all appear quite stable.
The fingerboard width at the bone nut is 1-9/16ths inches, so it is ideal for someone with smaller hands or who just likes a narrower neck. |

What a cool guitar! All original and in great shape. Back in the 1970s, the famous Johnny Smith offered to trade anything in his shop for this guitar. There is a little deterioration of the pickguard but we've seen way worse. The g string tuner button is bent but works fine. Overall, this beauty has a few small nicks and scratches but really is in fantastic condition. It has that classic arch-top boom to it and, because it's lived inside the original case its whole life, it smells divine. Serial #94923. |

A nice smaller bodied guitar from the folks back in Kalamazoo. It has a great looking sunburst finish and no cracks. The tuners have been replaced with Grovers but the originals are in the case. Somewhere along the line the bridge has been replaced, no doubt because it would have had a nasty plastic one originally. The action is great and it has a punchy tone. It has a John Pearse wooden armrest that has been added, but we're certain that it could be easily removed by the new owner. That could be you! |

A great little Martin that just turned 50 last year. The finish is beautifully checked, with just a few scratches here and there. We have done a neck set so the guitar plays great. There are two small cracks(less than an inch) that have been repaired near the end pin. Otherwise, it is crack-free. Also, we have added a bridgeplate veneer as the top was getting a bit thin by the bridge pins. All in all, a wonderful small-bodied guitar. |

Supposedly, Martin stopped using Brazilian Rosewood in 1969. This is the 23rd guitar built in 1970 and it has beautiful straight grained Brazilian Rosewood... Go figure. Wow, did Richard Hoover find some beautiful wood to build this guitar! Highly flamed koa back and sides, with very tight-grained spruce on top. It has a lovely inlay on the headstock and a "snowflakes and diamonds" pattern on the fingerboard. The top has had two repaired cracks, and there is some normal playing wear - but all in all, this is a cool guitar. It has a big voice with a very distinctive bass. |

Words: Brazilian Rosewood. This was a custom H model from Santa Cruz

finish cracking on the top. |

We talked to the folks at Santa Cruz about this one. It is a custom model because it has a low profile neck and it is 1-3/4 inch neck at the nut. That's just a hair wider than their standard width for the Tony. There is a repaired center seam crack and some light buff marks on the headstock - it looks like someone tried to buff out some string scratches. |

We sure don't see these very often. This one came into our store needing some repairs, but it was well worth the effort. The original tuners have been replaced with tuners of the same period. We have repaired a center seam crack and reglued some of the binding. Over the past 80 years, the finish has morphed into a fabulous golden crackle. Naturally, the whole instrument is solid koa. |

Otis Taylor is a well-known composer and blues musician, best known for his style of music called "trance blues". A recent project of Otis's is "Recapturing the Banjo", a CD he did with Corey Harris, Keb' Mo', Guy Davis, and Alvin Youngblood Hart. This special model banjo was made by Ome to help commemorate that project. It is a great sounding banjo with a 12" head and special inlays on the neck and headstock. It has a deep wine-colored finish and is made of highly-figured maple. It has Ome's "old time" tone ring and has a renaissance head for a dynamite sound. |
