New Ome Banjos Currently in Stock at the Denver Folklore Center
One of the best known makers of stringed instruments in the history of Colorado is Ome Banjos.
Our owner (Harry Tuft) has known the owner of Ome (Chuck Ogsbury) since the early 60s, and for nearly that entire time Harry has been proud to sell Chuck's banjos. If you want a real "hand-built instrument" from a small shop, we urge you to consider buying an Ome. In addition to the new Omes shown on this page, from time to time we might have a pre-owned Ome banjo listed on the Older & Vintage Instruments page.
Ome "Otis Taylor" Model
Otis Taylor is a well-known composer and blues musician, best known for his style of music called "trance blues." He has been coming into the Denver Folklore Center since he was a young teenager and is good friends with our proprietor, Harry Tuft.
A recent project of Otis' is "Recapturing the Banjo," a CD he did with Corey Harris, Keb' Mo', Guy Davis, and Alvin Youngblood Hart. This special model banjo was made by Ome to help commemorate that project - a great sounding banjo with a 12" maple pot and special inlays on the mahogany neck and headstock. It has a light brown oil finish, Ome's "old time" tone ring, and a renaissance head for a dynamite sound.
With hard shell case. $1,895 |
